Spring is such a lovely time of the year, with the long winter nights going, new buds on the trees and best of all, the lambing season. It’s a great experience for kids to visit a farm and delight at meeting these adorable lambs. There are lots of places around Buckinghamshire to meet newborn lambs and at some places you can even bottle feed them.
Here are a selection of the best lambing days around Buckinghamshire and we’ll keep adding more. Some of the farms have lambing everyday and others are just special weekend events. Best Lambing Days around Buckinghamshire
Always a great day out with lots to do both indoors and out, there are always lots of new babies to get close to, including the rare breed ewes with plenty of cute lambs to meet. Lambing starts from early February with the half term Animal Encounters event the perfect way to meet them.
Church Farm (Little Kimble)
Meet the ewes and pet a lamb, hear from the shepherdess about how they care for the sheep at this important time of year, and if you’re lucky you might even see a lamb being born! (Bottle feeding only available if/when we have any lambs that need supplementary feeding – they will never remove a healthy lamb from its mother, but you’re still welcome to hand feed our ewes!) Running throughout April with sessions 11am to 3pm
Lillingstone PYO (near Buckingham)
During March and April you can meet the adorable baby lambs as well as lots of great Easter fun for kids.
Watergate Farm (near Leighton Buzzard)
The farm will be open again during the peak Lambing Season this Easter. Visitors can hold the lambs and see a modern sheep farm at work. They will be open for 4 weekends around Easter, exact dates tbc
Rookery Open Farm (Towcester)
During the lambing season you may be able to experience seeing some of the baby lambs being born. 10am – 5pm everyday except Tuesdays – lambing dates for 2024 tbc
Odds Farm Park (Wooburn Common nr High Wycombe)
Fall in love with the lambs at Odds Farm Park from this February Half Term! Head into the Lamb Nursery to meet the new arrivals, whilst you learn all about lambing from the farmers.
Mead Open Farm (Billington, nr Leighton Buzzard)
Meet adorable newborns in the Lamb Nursery this Feb half term, watch the fleecy friends take their first steps and get up close.
