Banbury Emergency Services Day

10 September, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 3:30 pm

Celebrate Banbury’s brilliant emergency services at the free fun day on 10th September 2022. Meet the teams behind the police, fire, search & rescue and local ambulance services. This is a free community event, ideal for the whole family, including a little funfair.

Children can ‘drive’ fire engines, ambulances and police cars. Blue lights will flash, sirens will go nee-nah and it will be a time for happy family photographs.  This family fun day is part of Emergency Services Day – an event that celebrates the town’s 999 workers and provides a remarkable insight into their very special jobs.

Children and adults will meet the people who risk their lives to save others – and police, fire and ambulance staff will highlight the skills they use to rescue casualties and protect properties. They will talk about using 999 calls responsibly.

  • Police horses will be a popular part of the show and RAF Croughton will display an exciting range of American emergency vehicles.
  • Information about career and volunteering opportunities within the emergency services will be available.
  • A funfair will provide extra entertainment and a range of inflatables near the skate park will ensure the kids have a fun day out.

The free event, between 9am and 3.30pm, is organised by Thames Valley Police, Banbury Town Council and Castle Quay.

Emergency Services Day (also known as 999 Day) is a national event across the UK. It came about after serving police officer Tom Scholes-Fogg discovered there was no annual celebration in Britain that honoured 999 heroes.

Plus, you can grab something to eat or drink at Castle Quay, including Lock29 and the newly opened The Light.
